EXPLORING UNIQUE NATURAL LANDSCAPES
Lake Neusiedl has a water surface of about 285 km2 and has a lot to offer for water sport enthusiasts and nature lovers. Around its shore there are idyllic vineyards and in the reeds there is a unique natural landscape with many animals and plants. Furthermore, the UNESCO world heritage region of Lake Neusiedl offers a unique climate with about 2,000 hours of sunshine per year.
Lake Neusiedl, the most western steppe lake, is an exotic among all European waters. Numerous animals and plants have their home in the cross-border national park Neusiedler See-Seewinkel. This home, however, may only be temporary, since there live many migratory birds in the national park. The national park Neusiedler See-Seewinkel – at the western shore – as well as the regions Ruster Hügelland and Leithaauen offer optimal living conditions for animals and plants.
